Outstanding Professional of the Year
Awarded to a Recreational Therapist who has shown exceptional dedication to the mission, vision, and guiding principles of ORTA. This individual exemplifies hard work and leadership to the profession of Recreational Therapy.
Award Requirements:
- Current ORTA member
- Minimum of 5 years in Recreational Therapy
- Service on an ORTA committee
- Service and leadership in the following areas (3 minimum):
- Outstanding program development and implementation
- Professional presentations pertaining to the advancement of Recreational Therapy
- Publication of Recreational Therapy related articles
- Research to advance the profession
- Author/Co-Author/Editor of a Recreational Therapy related book
- Contribution to the profession which has affected philosophy or practice
- Preparing or sponsoring legislation
- Supervision of a student intern
Outstanding Young Professional of the Year
Awarded to a new Recreational Therapist who has shown exceptional dedication to the mission, vision, and guiding principles of ORTA . This individual shows great promise in becoming a leader to the profession of Recreational Therapy.
Award Requirements:
- Current ORTA member
- 1-5 years experience in Recreational Therapy
- Service and leadership in the following areas (3 minimum):
- Service on an ORTA committee
- Volunteer work related to Recreational Therapy
- Education/In-service related to Recreational Therapy
- Service on a committee at place of employment
- Development/Implementation of unique programs in Recreational Therapy
Our Scholarship
Each year ORTA offers a scholarship award to a Oklahoma State University Recreational Therapy student who are seeking certification through the NCTRC exam. This scholarship will fully fund the certification exam process to one lucky student. The student must be eligible to sit for the exam and agree to take their exam during the calendar year of the scholarship award year. Application materials are due in December and the award recipient(s) are announced at the annual ORTA Conference that takes place on the campus of Oklahoma State University during the spring.
